Alfonso A. Almanza, 76, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on March 18, 2022 at Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. Alfonso was born on January 23, 1946, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Francisco and Victoria (Arcos) Almanza. He moved to Denver, Colorado with his family in 1953 at the age of seven. Alfonso remained in Denver, Colorado throughout his childhood, until graduating high school. On December 14, 1965, Alfonso was inducted into the United States Army and proudly served his country in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on December 13, 1967. Upon his discharge from the military, Alfonso settled in El Paso, Texas where he worked for the city waste management department until retirement. Alfonso made his way to Lexington, Nebraska where he made many friends. He was a generous man, quick to offer a helping hand. He could often be found tinkering about in his tool shed and loved fixing things. He also loved sharing fond memories from his younger days. A funeral service with full Military Honors will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.
