Aldon L. Unruh, 84, of Callaway, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at CHI Health St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island, Nebraska.
He was born on January 30, 1938 in Enid, Oklahoma, to Alpha J. and Almeda Rose (Johnson) Unruh. He was born again on April 22, 1946 to Jesus Christ, Son of God. Aldon graduated from Oklahoma Bible Academy with the class of 1956 in Enid, Oklahoma. He then went on to further his education at Grace College of the Bible where he met the love of his life, Lavon Uhlig.
Aldon was united in marriage to Lavon on November 24, 1960 in Gothenburg, Nebraska. Two children were blessed to this union: Warren and Shannon. The family made their home in Lincoln for over forty years. Aldon was a self-employed framing contractor and trim carpenter. He was also a Project Manager for Sampson Construction. Aldon and Lavon moved back to Callaway, Nebraska and settled in 1995 where Aldon was still employed by Sampson Construction.
Aldon had a love for music. He sang in a quartet in High School and College where he made lifelong friends. Aldon was a master craftsman and gifted at his trade. He also enjoyed being outdoors and fishing. His family, church, and faith were always an important part of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Lavon of Callaway; his children, Warren (Jennifer) Unruh of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Shannon (Kevin) Valentine of Lincoln; sister, Carolyn Unruh of Lahoma, Oklahoma; three sisters-in-law, Charlyn (Paul) Glover of Spencer, Iowa, Marcy (Keith) Aden of Gothenburg and Audrey (Bob) Busboom of Denton; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Besides his parents, Aldon was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Lila (Leonard) Uhlig.
Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Berean Bible Church in Broken Bow with Pastor Larry DeMoss, officiating.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 22, 2022 from 5-7 p.m. at Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway.
Interment will be at the Gothenburg Cemetery in Gothenburg at 2:00 p.m.
