Agapita Ibarra Deescalante

January 23, 1935 — May 13, 2020

Agapita Ibarra Deescalante, 85, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Agapita was born January 23, 1935, at Suchil, Durango, Mexico to Martin and Julia (Rodriguez) Ibarra. She was united in marriage to J. Refugio and to this union three children were born: Gabriel, Maria and J. Refugio, jr. They made their home in Mexico, where she devoted her time caring for her family and homemaking. After the passing of her husband she moved to Lexington, Nebraska in 2001 to be closer to family.

Agapita was a faithful member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington. Praying the rosary was very important to her; she loved planting her roses in her flower garden and watching birds. Her family, church, and faith were always an important part of her life. Agapita has left a tremendous legacy of love, and faith to her family.

She leaves to celebrate her life; her children, Gabriel Escalante (Lourdes Tirado) of Lexington, J. Refugio (Maria) Escalante of Elgin, Illinois and Maria E. Escalante (Rafael Frayre) of Fort Worth, Texas; ten grandchildren, Roberto, Sandra, Daniel, Alan, Denisse, Adrian, Ivan, Monica, Adhali and Helen; two great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Eri; also survived by brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2020 from 3-5 p.m. with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home with Father Jose Chavez, officiating. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we will adhere to members of a household who live together may be seated together, but maintain six feet of a part of social distance from other parties. The Rosary will be streamed live through Facebook live on the Reynolds Love Facebook page.

Following the visitation, cremation will take place and burial will be held at a later date in Mexico.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
