Adam James White, 37, of Overton, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney.
He was born on May 31, 1984 in Berlin, Vermont to Francis Lee and Sharon Elaine (Haskins) White. Adam received his education at Montpelier public schools, graduating from Montpelier High School with the class of 2002. He then went onto further his education for a year at vocational school.
Adam was united in marriage to Cathleen Johnson on May 24, 2003 in Johnson, Vermont. Four children were blessed to this marriage: Cole, Cheyenne, Gage and Laura. While living in Vermont, Adam worked for Cathleen’s Uncle.
In 2011, the family decided to make the move to Overton, Nebraska to be closer to Cathleen’s family. Adam kept himself busy working various jobs in the area. He worked for Lofquist Welding in Elwood, Overton Sand and Gravel, NAPA and Walmart in Lexington, and he also did some harvesting for Don Lofquist. Before his health started to decline, Adam worked for Flatwater Food & Automotive Towing and Recovery in Overton.
Adam loved being a Volunteer Fireman. He took great pride in his job and also volunteered at two other departments, Middlesex/More Town Fire Department and North Hyde Park/Eden Fire Department before moving to Overton and being part of the Overton Fire & Rescue Department. He enjoyed mowing, which he started doing on the side for a business in 2013, spending time at the Dawson County Racetrack and tinkering in the garage with his good friend, Seth Area. Adam also loved spending time with his family and just recently became a Grandpa.
Adam leaves to celebrate his life; his wife, Cathleen of Overton; his children, Cole (Nataly) White, Cheyenne (Garret Wood) White, Gage White and Laura White all of Overton; his parents, Lee White of Barre, Vermont and Sharon Elaine White of South Barre, Vermont; his grandmother, Alice Haskins of Waterbury, Vermont; siblings, Andrew (Chrissy) White of South Barre, Vermont, Nicholas (Jennifer) White of Massena, New York, Eddie (Donna) Austin of Tennessee and Crystal Williams of Vermont; one grandson, Leo Anthony Vega Pape of Overton; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles “Chico” Haskins, Ellie Wright and Clayton Griffith Beckley, Mary and Raymond White.
A Celebration Of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at the Overton Fire & Rescue Hall with Lieutenant Nick White, Salvation Army Pastor, officiating.
A visitation with a time of sharing with family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at the Overton Fire & Rescue Hall.
Following the visitation, the family is honoring Adam’s wish for cremation. Burial will be held at a later date.
A memorial has been established in Adam’s honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
