Alfred Ralph Knispel, 88, of York, Nebraska, formerly of Eddyville, died Sunday, November 7, 2010, at Jennie M. Melham Medical Center in Broken Bow, Nebraska.
He was born May 26, 1922, in Buffalo, Nebraska, to William and Clara (Knoop) Knispel. Alfred attended North #16 rural school through the 8th grade and then attended Cozad High School. He was baptized and confirmed in Buffalo Lutheran Church. He was united in marriage to Dolores Kopf on March 22, 1944, at Buffalo. Four children were blessed to this marriage; Clifford, Curtis, James and Garlyn.
Alfred and Dolores lived in the Buffalo, Eddyville and Sumner areas their entire lives prior to moving to York one year ago. Alfred worked as a self-employed mechanic and helped other folks with his skills when he was needed. He loved his Ford automobiles, collecting antique tractors, playing cards, telling jokes and as a youth, enjoyed playing baseball. He so enjoyed family get-togethers and will be so very missed.
Alfred was a faithful member of the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo, Nebraska.

Three sons: Clifford and wife Shirlee Knispel of Ogallala, Nebraska
Curtis and wife Linda Knispel of Kearney, Nebraska
James Knispel of Wichita, Kansas
One daughter: Garlyn and husband Ken Beeman of Shelby, Nebraska
One brother: LaVerne “Bud” Knispel of Eddyville, Nebraska
One sister: Elsie and husband Herbert Struempler of Broken Bow, Nebraska
Brother-in-law: Henry Struempler of Broken Bow, Nebraska
Eight grandchildren: William James and wife Samantha Knispel; Tamara Knispel; John and wife Elizabeth Knispel; Chad and wife Christy Knispel; Darla and husband Stephan Andersen; Ty and wife Trina Knispel; Darci and husband Ki Fanning and Brandon and wife Loree Cain.
Alfred is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Arlene Struempler.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at First Lutheran Church at Buffalo, Nebraska with Pastor Victor Rasmussen officiating.
Burial will be in the North Church Cemetery at Oconto, Nebraska.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 9, 2010, from 4-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to the North Church Cemetery in care of the family.
