Charles E. "Buddy" Schofield

Charles E. “Buddy” Schofield, 75, of Callaway, Nebraska, died Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at Callaway District Hospital in Callaway. He was born June 1, 1935, at Stafford Springs, Connecticut, to George L. and Olga (Pobuda) Schofield, Sr. Charles trusted Jesus as his Savior and was “born again” in 1954, while serving in the United States Coast Guard in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. He graduated from Western Bible Institute, Morrison, Colorado and was later united in marriage to Evelyn Fast in Henderson, Nebraska on November 7, 1969. To this union were born three children. Buddy served for approximately 7 years as a Yeoman 2nd Class in the U.S. Coast Guard and then a pastor at Berean Fundamental churches in Imperial, and Hastings, Nebraska and Gregory, South Dakota. They also served for a time at the Johnny Walker Boys Ranch in Trenton, Nebraska, before joining Cadence International (formerly Overseas Christian Servicemen’s Centers) in 1985. Assignments with Cadence took them to Fellowship Ranch near Ft. Leonard Wood in Missouri and Victory Ranch near Ft. Jackson in South Carolina. In May of 2000 they moved to Callaway, Nebraska and served as Area Representatives for the plains states. Since his retirement on June 1, 2006, they have lived in Callaway to be near Ronda and family. Left to mourn his passing is his wife: Evelyn (Fast) Schofield of Callaway, Nebraska Daughter: Ronda (Michael) McFate of Callaway, Nebraska and their children, Mikayla, Joshua and Caleb. Son: Loren (Kristen) Schofield of Colorado Springs, Colorado and their children, Kylie & Jakob. One brother: George L. Schofield, Jr. of Willington, Connecticut Twin Sister: Carol Brownson of Rutland, Vermont Buddy is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Preceding him in death was a daughter, Julie Ann, his parents, two brothers, a niece and a nephew. A Family Graveside service will be held Saturday, November 6, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. MST at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Imperial, Nebraska with Pastor Dean Haidle officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, November 5, 2010, from 5-7 p.m. at the Callaway Community Church in Callaway, Nebraska. Memorial Service will be Sunday, November 7, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at the Callaway Community Center in Callaway with Pastor Dean Haidle officiating. Memorials are suggested to The Buddy Schofield Memorial Fund C/0 Cadence International. Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway is in charge of arrangements.
