Ida Garcia, 78, of Gothenburg, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington, Nebraska, died Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg. Ida was born Ida Fern Kipp in Trenton, Nebraska on March 2, 1932, to Fern Kipp where she grew up in her grandparents’ home. After moving to Lexington with her mother and aunt and uncle, she married Walter Garcia on August 14, 1952. They had two sons; Rick and Randy. She lived with her family in Lexington where she worked at Hennek’s True Value and Five-Star Flooring. She was a member of Parkview Baptist church where she had many friends. Ida was very close to her husband’s extended family including the Garcia, Hueftle, Beruman and Carranza families. Upon being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, Ida moved to Gothenburg where she was lovingly cared for by her son, Randy. Ida is survived by her two sons: Rick (wife Bobbi) of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Randy (wife Cindy) of Gothenburg, Nebraska Eight grandchildren: Kim (Daryn) Swails of Kearney, Nebraska; Kris (Brad) Olson of Gothenburg, Nebraska; Misty (Matt) Krieser of Bellevue, Nebraska; Brian (Noni) Garcia of Tucson, Arizona; Bradley Garcia of Grand Island, Nebraska; Jason Block of Gothenburg, Nebraska and Andrew Block of Omaha, Nebraska. Ten great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Ida's Siblings: Fritzi Trent of Floro Vista, New Mexico; Jeannie Varela of San Antonio, Texas; Lannie Hill of Montgomery, Alabama and Cliff Kennie of Buena Vista, Colorado. Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Garcia; Mother, Fern Zaiontz and grandson, Robert Reinhardt. Services will be Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Parkview Baptist Church in Lexington with Pastor John Shields officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 28, 2010, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to Parkview Baptist Church or Lexington Volunteer Fire Department. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
