Ruth Carr, 70, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, September 20, 2010, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. Ruth was born September 11, 1940, at Sumner, Nebraska to Joseph and Rose (Fajmon) Snurr. She graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1958 with the love of her life, Dick. The couple was married February 5, 1961, at Lexington. Two daughters were born to this union; Crystal and Kim. She worked for a time wrapping meat at Safeway and was a telephone operator for the telephone company. On July 5, 1966, she was hired as a Program Technician for the ASCS office in Lexington and gradually worked her way up to the County Executive Director. She spent 38 years there retiring on September 3, 2004. Ruth cared about her clients deeply as well as her family and friends. Ruth was a diagnosed with cancer in 2002, through chemo and radiation and a six-month life expectancy, she was an 8 year survivor. Ruth was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. Ruth enjoyed reading, going to garage sales, golfing, crossword puzzles and spending time with her girls and their families. She was a wonderful confidante to many friends as well as family members. Survivors include her daughters: Crystal & Rodney Sherman of Alda, Nebraska Kim & Tim Schoneman of Lexington, Nebraska One brother: Leonard & Edna Snurr of Lincoln, Nebraska Two sisters-in-law: Jeanne Hopkins of Des Moines, Iowa Linda & Rich Kennicutt of Lexington, Nebraska Five grandchildren: Stacey Schoneman of Omaha, Nebraska; Tyler Schoneman of Lincoln, Nebraska; Nicole Clemens of Lincoln, Nebraska; Tanner Carr & Matt Sherman both of Alda, Nebraska. Mother-in-law: Dorothy Carr of Lexington, Nebraska Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick on August 20, 2010; one sister, Margaret and one brother, Clarence. Funeral Services will be Friday, September 24, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington with Reverend Tess Hufford officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 23, 2010, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society-Dawson County Relay for Life or the Donor’s Choice. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
