Paul Roger Weides, 74, of Denver, Colorado, died Thursday, September 16, 2010, at Scott County Hospital in Scott City, Kansas due to complications from a recent stroke. He was born December 8, 1935, in Lexington, Nebraska, the son of Lawrence and Ruth (Wickwire) Weides. Paul lived in Denver, Colorado and retired from the University of Colorado Medical Center in 2006, after 28 years of devoted service. He was so proud of the fact that he received Employee of the month twice. He spent his formative years in Lexington, Nebraska and upon graduation he attended North Platte School of Commerce and then continued his education at Omaha Secretarial School. He worked in Omaha, Sioux City and Lexington and moved to Colorado in 1978. He was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos and the week before his passing he took several Bronco Posters out to his friends at the University Hospital. Survivors include 5 brothers, Dan and wife, Lynn of Scott City, KS; Larry and wife Cheryl, of Wauwatosa, WI; Dale and wife, Kathy of Highlands Ranch, CO; Jim of Scottsdale, AZ, Steve and wife, Connie of Lexington, NE; and one sister, Maggie and husband Chuck Morrison of Scott City, KS. 14 nieces and nephews and 1 great-great-nephew; all of whom Paul loved dearly. He is also survived by 2 aunts, Helen Young of Lexington, NE; and Kathleen Maher of Denison, IA, plus numerous cousins. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ruth Weides and two nieces, Amy and Staci. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 20, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Jorge Canela officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 19, 2010, from 5-7 p.m. with Wake/Rosary Service to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the St. Ann’s Cemetery Association. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to: reynoldslovefuneralhome.com.
