Howard Aubrey Snider

Howard A. Snider, 81, of Overton, Nebraska, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte, Nebraska. He was born April 19, 1929, at Broken Bow, Nebraska to Robert Lee and Henrietta (Smith) Snider. Howard was united in marriage to Ida Mae Swisher on March 31, 1956, at Thedford, Nebraska. Four children were blessed to this marriage; Howard “Levern”, Ruth, Nancy & Wanda. Howard worked for OK Luther Sand & Gravel at Broken Bow, Nebraska for many years as a truck driver and pumped gravel until moving to Overton in 1969. When they moved to Overton, Howard worked at the Alfalfa Mill & Elevator at Joselyn until it closed. He then worked for Red Ex in Elm Creek and worked many constructions jobs, Mead Lumber in Lexington, pumped gravel for T&F Gravel from Odessa, Nebraska and retired from the Alfalfa Company in Elm Creek in 2002. He was able to spend the year after he retired with his loving wife until she passed away in 2003. Howard was a wonderful husband and father to his family. Survivors include his son: Howard (Levern) Snider of Overton, Nebraska Three daughters: Ruth (James) Bebb of Overton, Nebraska Nancy (Ron) Borgmann of Bertrand, Nebraska Wanda Snider of Overton, Nebraska Ten grandchildren: Evan (Annie) Bebb of Plainville, Kansas; Christina Frazey of Overton, Nebraska; Darin (Kelly) Snider of Norfolk, Virginia; Mandy (Kevin) Converse of Lexington, Nebraska; Brooke Jackson of Overton, Nebraska; Phoebe Harriman of Overton, Nebraska; Brandie Borgmann of Bertrand, Nebraska; Corey Snider and special friend, Courtney Schmuecker of Overton, Nebraska; Brice Borgmann of Bertrand, Nebraska; Justin Snider of Overton, Nebraska. Twelve great-grandchildren: Tanner, Rebecca, Bradly & Lily Bebb; Sabrina, Garrett, Zachary Converse; Damian Frazey, Thomas Jackson, Nicholas & Savannah Snider; Isabelle Borgmann and Aybrie Schmuecker, as well as several nieces and nephews. Four sisters: Carol Huddleston of Tucson, Arizona Donna Pflaster of Cozad, Nebraska Georgia Bollwitt of Beatrice, Nebraska Ina Faye (Harry) Woolstrum of Ansley, Nebraska Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Henrietta (Smith) Snider; wife, Ida Mae in 2003; one grandchild, Aaron in 1979; one great-great grandchild; Adrian in 2006; three brothers, Rob Roy, Paul Alvin and Charles Ray and four sisters, Josephine, Patricia, Shirley and Grace. Funeral Services will be Friday, September 3, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Lexington with Pastor Ron Masten officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 that same afternoon at Purdum Cemetery near Purdum, Nebraska Visitation will be held Thursday, September 2, 2010 from 4-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
