David L. Jandebeur, 73, of Overton, Nebraska, died Thursday, August 12, 2010, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington, Nebraska.
He was born December 4, 1936 at Paxton, Nebraska to Leo and Olive (Willmes) McQueen. His father died when he was young and David was raised by his grandparents. David grew up south of Sutherland and lived there until 1945, when the family moved to North Platte. He graduated from North Platte St. Patrick’s High School with the class of 1956.
David served his Country in the United States Navy from September 23, 1957, until being honorably discharged on April 19, 1962. Prior to his time in the Navy David was a member of the Nebraska National Guard. Following his time in the service, he returned to Nebraska and moved to Overton in 1962. He was united in marriage to Pat Cooney on August 12, 1964, at Broken Bow, Nebraska.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overton, the Overton Fire Department, past member of the North Platte Fire Department, past member of the Overton District #48 school board and a huge Nebraska Husker fan. David enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing.
Survivors include his wife: Pat Jandebeur of Overton, Nebraska
He is also survived by cousins.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overton, Nebraska with Reverend Jose Chavez and Deacon Bill O’Donnell officiating.
Wake/Rosary Service will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overton, Nebraska
Memorials are suggested to the Overton Fire & Rescue Squads or the Donor’s Choice.
Burial will be in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska with Full Military Honors.
