Evelyn M. Racek, 78, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Lexington, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at Manor Health Care Center in Las Vegas. She was born October 20, 1931, in Ashton, Nebraska to Walter and Mary (Sidzyik) Piontkowski. Evelyn attended school at Ashton and was united in marriage to Charles Racek on August 3, 1948, at Ashton, Nebraska. Two children were blessed to this marriage; Gerald and Linda. Gerald died in 1972. The couple custom farmed in Dawson County until their retirement. Charles passed away May 1, 1991. Evelyn moved to Las Vegas to be near her daughter, Linda in 2006. She ran a Daycare from 1979 until 1992, when her health forced her to retire. Evelyn loved gardening and canning, fishing, polka music and the “Big Joe Polka Show” out of Ord, Nebraska every Sunday morning. She also loved to dance, play cards, cook and be with her family. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington as well as the Altar Society. Survivors include one daughter: Linda and husband James Walker of Las Vegas, Nevada One sister: Emily Kudrna of Omaha, Nebraska Three grandchildren: Stacey, Gerry and Ryan, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Evelyn was preceded in death in addition to her husband and son, by her parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 30, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Paul Colling officiating. Wake Service will be held Thursday, July 29, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery at Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
