Robert Lee Edgington

Robert Lee Edgington, 63, of Callaway, Nebraska, died Monday June 28, 2010, at the Callaway District Hospital. He was born March 3, 1947, at Arnold, Nebraska to Maurice Wilburn and Irene (Hill) Edgington. Robert grew up in the Callaway, Nebraska. Robert was a 1965 graduate of Callaway High School; graduated from University of Nebraska School of Pharmacy in 1970. Following college, Robert lived in Lexington for two years and then moved to Callaway where he purchased Right Drug from a corporation in 1972, and has lived here ever since. He married Ramona G’Schwind. To this union two children were born: Robin Renee and Robert Lee, Jr. They divorced. Robert married Cynthia Ann Spellman on April 18, 1987, in Callaway, Nebraska. To this union four children were born: Rebecca Lynn, John Taylor, Larissa Jo & Noah Riley. Robert had been the pharmacist in Callaway for 38 years. He was very active in the Callaway community. Robert was a retired member of the Callaway Volunteer Fire Department and was the past Fire and Rescue Chief. He was a past member of the Lions Club and was a member of the Masonic Parian Lodge, #207 of Custer County. He has been on the Nebraska Pharmacist Board twice and served as President in 1980-1981. He was also a clinical instructor for the University of Nebraska, College of Pharmacy in the community pharmacy rotation program. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church of Callaway. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and photography. He was also an avid Husker Football fan. Robert was devoted to his family and appreciated the community. Survivors include his wife: Cindy of Callaway, Nebraska Three sons: Robert Lee Edgington Jr. of Callaway, Nebraska John Edgington of Callaway, Nebraska Noah Edgington of Callaway, Nebraska Three daughters: Robin and husband Scott Likens of Hallam, Nebraska Rebecca Edgington of Lincoln, Nebraska Larissa Edgington of Callaway, Nebraska Six grandchildren: Casee, Carlie & Dani Dragoo; Dillon & Jaylee Likens & Joslyn Odessa Edgington One brother: Gary and wife Vagene of North Platte, Nebraska Many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Shirley Gogerty, Carolyn Mckinzie; two nephews, Brent Larson and Taylor Spellman. Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 2, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Callaway Community Center with Reverends Roger Gillming & Jerry Schwarz, officiating. There will also be Masonic Rites conducted by Parian Lodge #207, Broken Bow, Nebraska. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Callaway. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 1, 2010, from 5-7 p.m. at the Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway. Memorials are suggested to the Callaway Volunteer Fire Department, Callaway District Hospital, Good Samaritan Center in Callaway or a Scholarship Fund in Robert's name for students attending Pharmacy school.
