Eva Marie Prather

Eva Marie Prather, 96, of Callaway, Nebraska, died Monday, June 14, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center in Callaway. She was born August 10, 1913, at Callaway, Nebraska to Alex and Mary Jane (Weaver) Griffith. She attended rural school near Callaway and was united in marriage to Chester “Bill” Prather on January 6, 1930, at Callaway. Three children were blessed to this marriage; Jim, Nancy and Gaylene. Eva and Bill ran the Dairy in Callaway for many years, doing all the milking and delivering of their prized product. She then went to work for the grocery store and ended her working career at the Bank, where she worked for 16 years. Eva thoroughly enjoyed all of her customers throughout the years and many became life-long friends. Eva so enjoyed her garden and flowers, loved to play pinochle, appreciated visits from friends and family was her life. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Survivors include one son: Jim (Mary) Prather of Seattle, Washington One daughter: Gaylene (Don) Bruskotter of Highlands Ranch, Colorado Two grandsons: Zach Bruskotter and Mark Riley and two great-grandchildren; Susan and Brian Riley. Eva was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; daughter, Nancy; brothers and sisters; Lynn, Ivan and Clarence “Bud” Griffith, Nellie Wolford, Billy & Oral Lincoln and Marjorie Lincoln Van Cleave. A Memorial Celebration of Life Service was held Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Callaway with Reverend Gerald Schwarz officiating. There was no visitation and burial was held prior to the Celebration of Life Service at Rose Hill Cemetery in Callaway. Memorials are suggested to the Nigel Sprouse Memorial Library or the Donor’s Choice. Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway was in charge of arrangements.
