Pastor Marvin “Joe” Masten, Jr. 52, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010, at his home near Lexington.
He was born December 26, 1957, at Wakefield, Nebraska, to Marvin “Joe” and Ella M. (Miller) Masten. He lived in Walthill, Wayne, Cedar Rapids, Rosalie, Wood Lake, Orchard, Winside, Lexington, Albion, Hastings and Thedford, all in Nebraska.
Joe graduated from Lexington High School in 1976. He married Tammy Plessel of Milford on May 29, 1982. One child blessed this marriage; Ashley Sue.
He has been the Pastor of the Lexington Calvary Assembly of God Church for the past twelve years. He loved his church, family and had a passion for missions. He made multiple trips around the world; building, preaching seminars, and helping local pastors and missionaries. His latest projects are in Madagascar. He served on the board of People Matter Ministries International. PMMI (a Foundation) focuses on a holistic approach to evangelism in third world countries including orphanages, schools, medical supplies and water wells.

Nieces & Nephews: Jessica (Patrick) Morrison of Omaha, Nebraska; Nathan (Alisha) Masten of Lexington, Nebraska; Andrew (Savannah) Masten of Loomis, Nebraska; Annah Masten of North Platte, Nebraska; Joshua Masten of Bentonville, Arkansas; Laurin Masten of Chicago, Illinois; Emily & Ben Masten of McAlester, Oklahoma; Whitney & Braxton Plessel of Milford, Nebraska; and Trevor Plessel of Lincoln, Nebraska
One great-niece: Meghan Morrison of Omaha, Nebraska as well as a host of friends from the community, friends around the United States, and many foreign mission fields.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 17, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Lexington with Pastor Bob Wine officiating.
Interment will be held prior to the Memorial Service at Robb Cemetery south of Lexington.
There will be no visitation.
