Irma Mae Vinzant, 75, of Elwood, Nebraska, died Saturday June 5, 2010, at Elwood Care Center in Elwood, Nebraska. She was born March 28, 1935 in a sod house in Loup County, Nebraska to Howard and Elsie (Bishop) Lyons. She attended school in the Sand hills around Broken Bow. As a young woman she moved with her family to the Lexington area. On June 13, 1954, she married Robert Vinzant in Lexington, Nebraska. To this union two sons were adopted in love, Kevin and Gary. While in Lexington, Irma worked for Lexington Laundry and Dry Cleaning. The family then moved to Gosper County in 1963. She was a cook at Gosper County District #4 school and then later worked at Elwood Care Center for 17 years, retiring in the late 1990’s. She was a member of the Elwood United Methodist Church and Merry Mixers Club. She enjoyed reading and doing “fancywork” but, most of all, enjoyed being with family and entertaining friends. She is survived by her husband: Robert Vinzant of Elwood, Nebraska Two sons: Kevin and wife Patricia Vinzant of Houston, Texas. Gary and wife Jodie Vinzant of Midway Lake, Nebraska. Brothers: Clifford and wife Helen Lyons of Aurora, Colorado Marvin and wife Lois Lyons of Shelton, Nebraska. Sisters: Rose Catlett of Central City, Nebraska. Bernice and husband Larry Cronk of Lexington, Nebraska. Two grandsons: Mathew and Lucas Vinzant of Lincoln, Nebraska as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Irma was preceded in death by her parents and brother Clinton. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Elwood, Nebraska with Pastor Connie Karr officiating. Burial will be in the Elwood Cemetery in Elwood Nebraska Visitation will be Tuesday, June 8, 2010 from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to United Methodist Church in Elwood or the Donor’s Choice. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
