Gerald LaVerne "Jerry" Kincheloe

Gerald L. “Jerry” Kincheloe, 83, of Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington, died Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Village Manor in Lincoln. He was born August 15, 1926 at Lexington, Nebraska to Henry and Ida (Kolb) Kincheloe. Jerry attended school at Lexington, but quit school early because he went to work. He was a contractor by trade and built many homes around the Lexington area. In November of 1944, he was called to serve his Country during WWII in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in April of 1945. During the Korean Conflict he was also called to duty in October of 1950 until being honorably discharged again in September of 1951. Upon his return to the states he moved back to Lexington and went back to building homes. Jerry married Joyce Hodges and together had three sons; Steven, David and James. He then married Euneice Lanini and became a father to her two sons; Mike and Frank. Both wives preceded Jerry in death. As Jerry’s health declined he moved for a time to Kearney, Nebraska and then to Lincoln, to be near family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and any project he could do with his hands. He loved being with his family and grandchildren. Although Jerry battled dementia towards the end, he always knew his family when they came to visit. He will be so very missed. Survivors include his sons: Mike & Cindy Lanini of Lincoln, Nebraska Frank & Patty Lanini of Seneca, South Carolina One brother: Alfred & Dorothy Kincheloe of Grand Island, Nebraska One half-sister:Marian & Frank Vollmer of Lexington, Nebraska Ten grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Steven, David & James; one sister, Marjorie Adle; both wives and one great-granddaughter, Faith Niederhaus. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Dean Hanson officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be Monday, May 17, 2010, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
