Sidney Wright Troxel

Sidney Wright Troxel, 65, of Blue Hill, Nebraska, formerly of Callaway, Nebraska, passed away May 9, 2009, at Blue Hill, Nebraska. He was born June 25, 1943, at Broken Bow, Nebraska to David W. and Francis (Gates) Troxel. During his early childhood, he lived with his family in the Westerville area. In 1956, the family moved to Elvira, Iowa where he attended school. He enlisted in the United States Navy in March of 1963 and served on the USS. F.D. Roosevelt. He was discharged in August of 1965, and returned to the family farm after the death of his father. Later he returned to Nebraska doing ranch and construction jobs and liked to travel and was very artistic. He is survived by his daughter Jobeth Troxel of Callaway, Nebraska; son, Jason Gates of Texas; one brother, Keith Troxel of Preston, Iowa; two sisters, Keitha (Kevin) Sharp of Oskaloosa, Iowa and Debra (Tom) Stange of Fulton, Illinois, along with nieces and nephews. Sidney was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dave Troxel. Sidney’s body has been cremated and there will be no visitation. A Memorial Celebration of Sidney’s Life will be held Friday, April 9, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Callaway Lutheran Church in Callaway with Fred Werkmeister, PMA officiating. Inurnment will be held that same day at 1:30 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska with Military Honors. A Memorial will be established at a later date.
