Maxine Cook, 83, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington, Nebraska.
She was born March 4, 1927, at Huntsville, Arkansas to Claude and Cora (Fowler) Bolinger. When she was nine years old, the family moved to Ucross, Wyoming where her father was involved with ranching.
Maxine was a graduate of Clearmont High School in Clearmont, Wyoming with the class of 1947. She was united in marriage to Edwin Cook on December 5, 1948, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheridan, Wyoming. Two children were blessed to this marriage; Perry and Teresa. Following their marriage Ed and Maxine resided in Wyoming and Montana and moved to California in 1954. In 1958, they moved to Seward, Nebraska where Ed attended Concordia Teacher’s College until 1961.
Ed received his calling to Seminary and attended Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Illinois. The couple served parishes in Wyoming and Nebraska. Pastor and Mrs. Cook served seven different churches in the area, retiring in 2004.
Maxine was living at Park Avenue Estates at the time of her death. Maxine loved living close to her grandchildren and new great-granddaughter. She enjoyed embroidery, baking, cooking, doing crafts at Park Avenue and playing afternoon Bingo.
Survivors include one son: Perry & Estela Cook of Lemoore, California
One daughter: Teresa & Jack Maxcy of Lexington, Nebraska
Two brothers: Clifton “Jeff” & Edna Bolinger of Sheridan, Wyoming
Truman & Barbara Bolinger of Scottsdale,Arizona
One sister: Christine & Donald Lane of Scottsdale, Arizona
Four grandchildren: James Maxcy of Lexington, Nebraska; Katherine (Joseph) Alvarado of Lexington, Nebraska; Christopher (Jenny) Cook of Lemoore, California and Jennifer Cook of Lemoore, California
Three great-grandchildren: Brandon & Tyler Cook of Lemoore, California and Aleyna Alvarado of Lexington, Nebraska as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed in 2009; and one great-grandson, Isaac.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Michael Gruhn officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 2, 2010, from 3-6 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
