Ervin W. “Andy” Poehler, 70, of Cozad, Nebraska, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Andy was born July 25, 1939 in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Ervin and Anna (Teten) Poehler. He was confirmed in the Delaware Synod Lutheran Church at Syracuse. After attending school in Syracuse, he moved to Lexington.
Andy was united in marriage to Barb Anderson on June 30, 1963, at the Presbyterian Church in Cozad, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with two daughters; Beth and Jeanne.
Andy became a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, and was a past Elder. He had been a member and captain of the Plum Creekers Drill Team, he worked the chain gang for Lexington Minutemen football games, was a member of the Husker Beef Club and was a longtime supporter of Dawson County 4-H. Andy was an avid Husker football fan.
Andy enjoyed fishing and pack trips to the mountains. He also enjoyed eating the “tremendous twelve” at Perkins Restaurant, every chance he got. Andy was a devoted husband, dad and doting grandpa. He loved the land, raising cattle and being outdoors. Andy never met a stranger, and his sense of humor was always on the mark. He will be so very missed by friends and family alike.
Survivors include his wife, Barb Poehler of Cozad, daughters, Beth (Randy) Rogers of Lexington, and Jeanne (Corey) Burns of Cozad, sister Margaret Biehl of Lexington, sisters-in-law Judy (Dale) Biehl of Lexington, and Alana (Ken) Muchmore of Kearney.
He leaves behind three beloved grandchildren, Haley and Ross Rogers of Lexington and Sophia Burns of Cozad, as well as his nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, one sister, Mary Ann, In-Laws, Gus and Dorotha Anderson, and his brothers-in-law , Harold Biehl and Alan Anderson
Andy’s family will be receiving friends Thursday, March 18, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 19, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating.
A Private Burial Service will be held prior to the Memorial Serve at Fairview Cemetery south of Cozad.
Memorials are suggested to the Dawson County 4-H Foundation or the First Presbyterian Church.
