Richard J. Seberger, 78, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
He was born August 21, 1931, at his home near Lexington, to George and Jule (Stastny) Seberger.
Rich was a graduate of Lexington High School with the class of 1948. He served his Country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Marine Corp. He served from January 25, 1951 to March 1, 1953, when he was honorably discharged after being wounded in action and receiving the Purple Heart.
He returned to Lexington and worked for Walt Dunlap before joining Burns Skinner Feedlot where he was manager from 1959-1973, when they moved back to the family farm. He farmed and fed cattle for himself and for others until he retired.
Rich was united in marriage to Kathleen M. O’Connor on June 2, 1956, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington. Eight children were blessed to this union; Richard, Jr., William, Alan, Mary, Kenneth, Diane, Daniel, and Dennis.
He was a lifelong member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, he served on the parish council and was an usher. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, VFW and the Dawson County Cattleman’s Association.
Rich loved the land and being outdoors. He enjoyed watching the weather, hunting, tinkering in his shop, telling stories, spending time with his grandchildren and visiting with his sons about farming and cattle. He knew life on this earth was only for a short time and is now in Heaven telling stories and watching over his large family.
