Wayne H. Frost, 84, of Apache Junction, Arizona, formerly of Lexington, Nebraska, went to be with his Lord and Savior February 10, 2010.
He was born July 26, 1925 to Harvey Frost and Mary Henderson Frost of Holbrook, Nebraska. Wayne graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1943, and proudly enlisted in the U. S. Navy, attending Mid-shipmen’s School at Notre Dame University before receiving his commission as an Ensign aboard the U.S.S. Nicholas, a destroyer in the South Pacific. Following the end of WWII, he attended the University of Nebraska, receiving his B.S. in Business in Administration in 1949.
Wayne married his loving wife of almost 60 years, Patricia (“Pat”) Condit Frost on September 4, 1950 in Lincoln, NE. He was the owner and proprietor of Frost’s Department Store, later Frost’s Fashions in Lexington, Nebraska from 1963 until he retired at the age of 72 in 1997.
Over his many years in Lexington, he was active in the business community and in his church, St. Ann’s Catholic Church. He was a devoted member of St. George Catholic Church in Apache Junction. He loved to travel and fish, taking his family on annual camping trips across the entire Western U.S. He was a life-long learner and voracious reader, primarily of historical books that chronicled the times and events that shaped our great nation. He wrote fantastic cards and letters to family members near and far away. He enjoyed quiet (and many times not so quiet!) times with his large family whom he dearly loved.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Don, Earl and Harlin, sister Mildred, and son Harvey. He is survived by those blessed with memories: wife Pat of the home, son Mike and his wife Karen of Aurora, CO, son Steve and his wife Diane of Asheboro, NC, son Greg and his wife Lisa of Mesa, AZ and son Tom and his wife Kathy of Chandler, AZ, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He will be missed dearly, but we are comforted to know he is happy to be settled in his Father’s house.
His life and his love of the Lord will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Lexington Nebraska on Monday February 15th at 10:00 a.m.
There will be no visitation or vigil service.
Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Arapahoe Cemetery at Arapahoe, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
