Lenna L. Tubbs, 96, of Callaway, Nebraska, died Saturday, February 6, 2010, at Callaway Good Samaritan Center in Callaway.
Lenna was the youngest daughter of L.M. and Sarah Jane (Dickson) Deal who was born July 25, 1913 at Callaway. She attended school at Center for the first eight years and graduated from Lower Lodi High School.
On March 4, 1931, she married Bert Tubbs in Lexington, Nebraska. They lived with her parents until September of that year when they moved to the Homer Thomas Farm at Lodi. In March of 1933 they moved to the Sherman Sigman farm where they worked for awhile, later moving to Callaway where they made their home. Lenna worked at the local telephone office as operator from 1954 until 1965. In November of 1965, Lenna went to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home as a cook for 14 years.
On March 4, 1981, Bert and Lenna were privileged to observe their 50th Wedding Anniversary. She was a 75 year member of the United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Friendly Circle Extension Club where she was active for many years. She was also a member of the Seven Valley Senior Center and enjoyed helping with the donut sales.
She was a receptionist for Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home for 15 years. Lenna always had a kind word and a warm smile and will always be remembered fondly by the staff at Reynolds-Love.
Lenna is survived by Sister-in-law: Nora Tubbs of Callaway, Nebraska as well as several nieces and nephews.
Lenna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, four sisters, Letta May, Clara Lichtenberger, Hattie Hough and Cora Johnson; brother-in-law, Clarence Tubbs; sisters-in-law, Pearl Siemering and Edna Tubbs.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Callaway with Reverend Jerry Schwarz officiating.
Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2010 from 5-7 p.m. at the Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway.
Memorials are suggested to the Callaway Senior Center or the United Methodist Church.
