Jeanette Richardson, 78, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, November 30, 2009, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
She was born October 11, 1931, in Los Angeles, California to Eugene and Wilhelmina (Tolson) Neville. Her father died when she was 3 years old and her mother remarried.
She moved several times as a child and graduated from Ashley High School in Ashley, North Dakota in 1949.
Jeanette then went on to further her education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and this was where she met her life partner, Harley Richardson. The couple was married November 10, 1951, at Broken Bow, Nebraska.
Following the couple’s marriage, Harley entered the service and was stationed in California. Jeanette worked for the Hearst Corporation while living in California. After moving a few times with Harley’s time in the military, their last station was Cheyenne, Wyoming. This was where Jeanette started teaching.
They moved to Lexington in 1956 and Jeanette taught for two years in Elwood, Nebraska and twenty-nine years at Bryan Elementary in Lexington teaching 3rd grade. She was active in the LEA, Delta Kappa Gamma, and enjoyed spending time with the retired teachers club.
Jeanette also enjoyed reading, golfing, visiting with friends and family, Nebraska Cornhusker football, traveling and watching the grandchildren in their activities. She was a member of St. Peter’s in the Valley Episcopal Church, Investment Club and Chapter GR P.E.O.

Two daughters: Terry & Scott Tomasek of Omaha, Nebraska
Cindy Schmeeckle of Cozad, Nebraska
Eight grandchildren: Mindy Allen of Kearney, Nebraska; Tucker Tomasek of Seattle, Washington; Chad Schmeeckle of Phoenix, Arizona; Trista Tomasek of Kansas City, Missouri; Joe Richardson of Seward, Nebraska; Chris (Chelsea) Schmeeckle of Springfield, Missouri; Gabby Schmeeckle of Cozad, Nebraska and Marcus Richardson of Omaha, Nebraska.
Three great-grandchildren: Vanessa, Jessica & Tommy Allen
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, December 3, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Aurilla Walker and Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating. Chapter GR P.E.O. ceremony will also be included in the service. The casket will be closed.
Burial will be in the Robb Cemetery south of Lexington.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2009, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
