Michael Loyd Van Cleave, 58, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, November 9, 2009, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
He was born December 27, 1950, at Lexington, Nebraska to Loyd K. and Caryl Maureen (West) Van Cleave.
Mike was a 1969 graduate of Lexington High School. He worked for the Dawson County Road Department for many years and prior to that was a self-employed carpenter for 20 years.
He was a member of Lakeside Country Club for many years and so enjoyed a good round of golf with his many golfing buddies.
Mike was a kind, gentle man who loved to be with his friends and would give you the shirt off his back.
It was Mike’s wishes that his body be cremated and his friends have honored those wishes.
Mike is survived by one sister: Vicky Van Cleave of Omaha, Nebraska
His stepmother: Clara Van Cleave of Omaha, Nebraska
He was also survived by many, many friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, especially his beloved grandma Christine.
A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held Friday, November 13, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Caroline Vickery and Pastor Dan Cosson officiating.
Inurnment will be in the Cozad Cemetery at Cozad.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department.
