Opal Alice Wendorff

Opal A. Wendorff, 90, of Callaway, Nebraska, died Monday, November 2, 2009, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. She was born October 10, 1919, near Gothenburg, Nebraska to Harm and Nellie (Aden) Garrelts. She is a graduate of Gothenburg High School. On June 11, 1948, she married Leo Wendorff. The couple lived in Gothenburg and North Platte for a few years until 1956, when they moved to Callaway and Leo worked for Roy Taylor as a butcher for 2 years. Roy had a heart attack and sold the grocery store to Leo. Until 1975, the years the store was sold, Opal worked alongside her husband. Opal was a member of the Callaway Lutheran Church and had been active in the Senior Center. Survivors include a son: Mike Wendorff of North Platte, Nebraska A daughter: Patricia (Terry) Hudnall of Unadilla, Nebraska Four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, husband, in 1985, a baby daughter, one brother and two sisters. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 6, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Callaway Lutheran Church with Pastor Matthew Groenke and Fred Werkmeister, PMA officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 5, 2009, from 5-7 p.m. at the Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway. Memorials are suggested to the Callaway Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway. Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway is in charge of arrangements.
