Florence Audrey Anderson, 102, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, October 6, 2017, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington.
She was born May 2, 1915, at Overton, Nebraska to Noel and Mae (Holsclaw) Bacon. She moved with her parents to Cozad and a few years later to Elm Creek.
The family then moved back to the family farm and she started to school at Dist. West #12 near Overton. Her father later bought a farm northeast of Lexington, and moved his family there. Florence went to Lexington High School and graduated in 1931.
Florence was united in marriage to Harlan Anderson on September 18, 1935, in Lexington. They lived on a farm southwest of Lexington and in 1937 a son, Kerry was born. They then moved to Overton and after several years there, moved back to the family farm at Lexington, where they lived for 37 years until Harlan’s retirement when they moved to Johnson Lake. They spent 17 years there. In 1993 they moved to a condominium in Lexington.
Harlan died November 17, 2004. The couple had celebrated 69 years together.
Florence was a 70+ year member of First United Methodist Church, where she was active as a Sunday school teacher, youth sponsor, and circle member, and served on various committees. She was an active member of Chapter FS, PEO, Lexington. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, music, and most of all, time spent with her family.
Florence is survived by three grandchildren; Scott (Corky) Anderson of Lexington, Nebraska, Susan (Rod) Reynolds of Lexington, Nebraska, and Rob (Natalie) Anderson of Lexington, Nebraska; six great-grandchildren; Lindsey Anderson of Lexington, Nebraska, Blake (Stacy) Reynolds of Lexington, Nebraska, Carrie Beth Reynolds of Denver, Colorado, Ryan Reynolds of Lexington, Nebraska, Joelly Anderson of Walt Disney World, and Camille Anderson of Lexington, Nebraska; also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death in addition to her husband Harlan, by her parents; son and daughter-in-law, Kerry & Marion Anderson; brothers, Carl, Lloyd, and Harold Bacon; and, sister, Laura as well as their spouses.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lexington with Reverend Anne Gahn officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be Monday, October 9, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington.
