Richard Archie "Rick" Hallan

Richard Archie “Rick” Hallan, 74, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington. He was born January 5, 1943, in Bemidji, Minnesota, to Archie and Ruth (Berg) Hallan. He moved to Iroquois, South Dakota as a young man where he attended school. He joined the United States Army June 28, 1963, and served until his honorable discharge on June 15, 1968. He was united in marriage to Patricia Chambers on December 5, 1965, in Iroquois, South Dakota. Three children were born to this union; Cheri, Kevin, and Mike. The family moved to Lexington in 1975, where Richard was a Police officer with the LPD. He moved to Valley, Nebraska in 1985, where he also worked as a Police officer. It was during this time he semi-retired, returned to Lexington and worked for a time at Napa. He then fully retired. Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. Survivors include his children; Cheri (Scott) Saunders of Lexington, Nebraska, Kevin Hallan of Overton, Nebraska, and Mike Hallan of Lexington, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Christopher (Kendra) Saunders of Lexington, Nebraska, Kristina (Domonic) Ernesti of Lexington, Nebraska, Krystal (Joe) Shirley of Lexington, Nebraska, Joe Saunders of Lexington, Nebraska, and Trevor (Kelsey Dangler) Hallan of Lexington, Nebraska; three great-grandchildren, Carson, Kye, and Zach; also surviving is the mother of his children; Pat Hallan of Lexington, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents. It was Richard’s wishes that his body be cremated. The family has honored those wishes. A Memorial Celebration of his Life will be held Friday, September 29, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Joshua Stibb officiating. Inurnment will be held that same afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska with full Military Honors. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
