Orin Earl Frederick, 94, of Callaway, Nebraska, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017, at his home in Callaway, Nebraska.
Orin was born February 28, 1923, in Callaway, Nebraska, to George E. and Ferne (Stryker) Frederick. The family lived in Callaway until 1935, when they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1940, the family moved to Los Angeles, California. Orin graduated in 1941, from Dorsey High School in Los Angeles.
Orin served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946 (discharged as a Sergeant). While in the service he met Emilia “Amy” Kroll and they were married on October 10, 1946. Orin and Amy had four children: Pamela, John, Peggy and George.
Orin worked for the Bank of America in Los Angeles for 37 years before retiring on April 1, 1984. Amy was stricken with cancer, which took her life on December 29, 2000. In 2002, Orin decided to move back to Callaway where he still had some cousins. This is where he met Marjorie Leigh who had lost her husband in 2001. Orin and Marge were married on November 8, 2005.
Orin belonged to the American Legion Post #59 in Callaway. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, shooting pool, watching his L.A. Dodgers, USC Trojans, and Seattle Seahawks. He loved music and he loved to dance.
He attended the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Broken Bow up until the last few years when he attended the United Methodist Church in Callaway.
Orin was always interested in the youth in the community and loved to watch them in sports and always encouraged them to do their best.
Preceding Orin in death were his wife Amy, his parents, brother, Richard “Bud” Frederick and sister-in-law, Gladys Frederick, and grandson, Gary.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Marjorie; his children, Pamela (Ron) Gruber of Frisco, Texas, John (Beverly) Frederick of Martinsville, Indiana, Peggy Williams of Hailey, Idaho and George (Pam) Frederick of Peoria, Arizona; five grandchildren, Sherri (John) Coster of McKinney, Texas, Alicia (Chris) Cobb of Sparks, Nevada, Scott Frederick of Orange Park, Florida, Richard (Renee) Frederick of Peoria, Arizona and Greg Frederick of New York, New York; five great-grandchildren; five step-children, Debra Leigh (Dale Jacobson) of Omaha, Nebraska, Shari Sheppard of Callaway, Nebraska, Tami (Leon) Smith of Callaway, D.D. (Al) Perry of Aurora, Colorado and Robert (Denise) Leigh of Grand Island, Nebraska; six step-grandchildren, Lance (Kristen) Smith of Lincoln, Nebraska, Brandon (Ashley) Smith of Omaha, Nebraska, Leigh Anne Smith of Denver, Colorado, Spencer Perry of Aurora, Colorado, Logan Leigh of Lincoln, Nebraska and Abigail Leigh of Grand Island, Nebraska; four step-great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Callaway with Reverend Shanon Williams officiating.
Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery with Military Honors.
Visitation will be Friday, September 8, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway.
