Gerald LeRoy Shadduck

Gerald LeRoy Shadduck, 89, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Thursday, August 24, 2017, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington. He was born August 19, 1928, in Belleville, Kansas, to Millard B. and Mary K. (Heater) Shadduck. Gerald worked construction and then for the railroad prior to serving his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on October 30, 1952. He was united in marriage to Bethel J. Runyun on August 20, 1956, in North Platte, Nebraska. He welcomed her two children; Betty and Charles. The couple made their home in Lexington where Gerald worked as a Lineman and Equipment Technician for Dawson Public Power for 37 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and camping, one of his favorite hobbies was playing pool at the Vet’s Club with his buddies every afternoon at 4:00 p.m. He really never knew a stranger, and loved to visit. Gerald was a nice guy who will be very missed. Survivors include his stepchildren; Betty (Bill) Slack of Brady, Nebraska and Charles (Marilyn) Jenkins of Radcliffe, Kentucky; two sisters, Margaret Duffey of Smith Center, Kansas and Joyce (Marvin) Pappe of Belleville, Kansas; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bethel; grandsons, Charles and Ray Eldridge; sisters, Lois & Roberta; brothers, Adron & Richard. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Reverend Anne Gahn officiating. The casket will be closed. There will be no visitation. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Memorials are suggested to Plum Creek Healthcare Community.
