Alberta Jean Anderson, 87, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington. She was born February 2, 1930, north of Edison, Nebraska in Furnas County, to William Ralph and Gwendolyn Leona Marie (Dutton) Chapman. Alberta attended school at Edison graduating with the class of 1948. She was united in marriage to Nyle Anderson on April 8, 1948, at the Christian Church in Edison. Five children were blessed to this marriage; Ilene, Kenneth, Darlene, Gale and Gailene. The family moved to Lexington in 1962. Alberta was a member of LexChristian Church in Lexington. She enjoyed being an escort taking folks to the casino and sight-seeing. She also loved working in her yard, especially her flowers and growing a beautiful garden. Family meant the world to her. She was the best mother in the world, always kind, and the most giving woman you would ever meet. Her son remembers hanging on her leg as she sang, “In the Garden” as the kids were growing up. She will be so very missed by all who knew and loved her. Alberta is survived by her children; sons, Kenneth and wife Barbara Anderson of Cozad, Nebraska, Gale Anderson of Lexington, Nebraska; daughters, Ilene Holbrook of Lexington, Nebraska, and Gailene Anderson of Kearney, Nebraska; one sister, Betty and husband Bill Dietz of Orleans, Nebraska; nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nyle; daughter, Darlene, and daughter-in-law, Patti Anderson. Funeral Services will be Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at LexChristian Church in Lexington with Pastor Daniel Sauer officiating. Burial will be in the Edison Cemetery at Edison, Nebraska. Visitation will be held Friday, August 11, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
