Norman L. Anders, 85, of Lincoln, Nebraska, died June 20, 2017, at his home.
Norman was born on September 13, 1931 in Cozad, Nebraska, to Lawrence E. and Sylvia F. (Murray) Anders.
Norman grew up on various farms in Dawson County, Nebraska, and graduated from Lexington High School in May of 1948. He graduated from the University of Nebraska where he attained an Ag. Degree in May of 1954.
Norman married Glenda Wolfe on January 2, 1954, and to this union three daughters were born, Patricia, Cynthia, and Michelle.
With his love of the farm and his Ag degree Norman became a farm and ranch loan officer for Farmers Home Administration and later John Hancock Life Insurance and Loan Company. In 1973, he opened his own real estate office in Kearney where he specialized in farm & ranch sales. In 1983, he became Vice President and Ag loan officer for Sherman County Bank in Loup City. He retired in 1997 and he and Glenda moved to Springfield, Missouri, enjoying time with family and friends and of course Branson. They returned to Nebraska in 2003, and settled in Lincoln, back where they began their married life together.
Norman was an avid Husker fan all his life, and worked for the Husker Event staff when he returned to Lincoln. Wherever they lived it was important for Norman to find a Church for his family.
Survivors include his wife Glenda of Lincoln; daughters and sons-in-law Pat and Bill Wood of Kearney, Nebraska, Cindy and John Wargo of Medina, Ohio and Michelle and Mike Slack of Lincoln, Nebraska; Six grandchildren; Eric and wife Andrea Wood, Jason and wife Angela Wood, Stacey Wood, Jessica and husband Adam Neill, Timaree and husband Adam Harris, McKenna Slack and fiance' Matthew Brady; two step-grandchildren are John and Hannah Wargo; five great-grandchildren are Caleb, Charis, and Josiah Wood, and Peyton and Piper Neill; sisters are LaVawn (Richard) Whitted and Sharlene (Paul) Belisle all of Nampa, Idaho; brothers-in-law are Alan (Cheryl) Wolfe of Colombia, Missouri, Roger (Myra) Wolfe of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Gordon Wolfe of Citrus Heights, California; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Shirley Anders, and sister-in-law, Beckie Wolfe; brother-in-law Kenny Wolfe, and his in-laws Roy and Alma Wolfe.
Funeral Services will be Monday, June 26, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at LexChristian Church in Lexington, Nebraska with grandson Reverend Eric Wood officiating. In honor of Norman’s love of the Huskers please feel free to wear your Husker Red!
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery near Lexington.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 25, 2017, from 4-6 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
