Steven E. Leibert

Steve E. Leibert, 62, of Cozad, Nebraska, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born December 5, 1954, in Broken Bow, Nebraska, to Darrell Eugene and Shirley Sue (Wells) Leibert. He attended school at Sargent, graduating from Sargent High School with the class of 1973. He then attended Mid-Plains Technical College in North Platte, Nebraska where he studied Auto mechanics. After school he returned to Sargent where he worked for his dad driving truck. Steve was united in marriage to Yvonne M. Amos on August 13, 1974, in Sargent, Nebraska. Two children were born to this union, Vince and Becky. Yvonne passed away in 2002. He then found love again and married Linda L. (Eggleston) Schwarz on May 9, 2004, at Johnson Lake, Nebraska. Steve welcomed Linda’s children, Adam and Brandi to the family. Steve moved to Lexington in 1983, where he went to work for Lexington Co-op. He then worked for Oscar Ziebell, and returned to Co-op as the Propane Dept. manager. In 2005, Steve and Linda moved to Cozad. He was working for RDO Truck Center when he became ill the first part of May. To say Steve loved cars, and stock car racing is an understatement. He was on a racing crew for many years, Vince drove the car. He also enjoyed restoring old cars, music, where he played in the band, Honky Tonk Heroes, playing base guitar. He had a passion for painting pictures, model airplanes, and anything that kept his hands busy. He was a wonderful husband, dad, and grandpa. He had a very dry sense of humor, and had the best laugh. He will be so very missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his dad, Darrell Leibert of Sargent, Nebraska; wife, Linda Leibert of Cozad, Nebraska; son, Vince (Jennifer) Leibert of Lexington, Nebraska; daughter, Becky (Matt) Stuhr of Bradshaw, Nebraska; stepson, Adam Schwarz of Lexington, Nebraska; stepdaughter, Brandi Schwarz of Cozad, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Brooke, Vincent Jr., William, Croix, Drake, and Reece Leibert all of Lexington, Nebraska, Riley and Ashton Stuhr of Bradshaw, Nebraska; five step-grandchildren, Bobbie Jo Schwarz of Elwood, Nebraska, Mary Wood of Holdrege, Nebraska, Desaray Schwarz of Cozad, Nebraska, Miracle and Caly Kinkle of Gibbon, Nebraska; three brothers, Rick (Rosemary) Leibert of Sargent, Nebraska, Tim (Terri) Leibert of Sargent, Nebraska, and Terry Joe (Terese) Leibert of Smithville, Missouri; also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley and first wife, Yvonne. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Pastor Ken Schwarz officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Sargent, Nebraska. Visitation will be held Monday, June 19, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
