Marilyn Joy Saville

December 7, 1945 — June 7, 2017

Marilyn Joy (Strothkamp) Saville, 71, of Kirwin, Kansas, former Lexington resident, died suddenly Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg, Kansas. She was born December 7, 1945, in Geneva, Nebraska, to Donald J. and Joy Ann (Thomas) Strothkamp. Marilyn attended country school and graduated from Geneva High School with the class of 1964. She was united in marriage to Curtis R. Saville on July 12, 1964, in Geneva. Four children were blessed to this marriage; Kimberly, Kelly, Corey, and Paul. This year they would have celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. During the time Marilyn and Curtis lived in Lexington, she worked at Wheelers for many years. She also started the floral shop, Roses 4 You in Grand Island, Nebraska. She still helped out at the shop during the holidays. The couple built several homes over the years and she enjoyed painting and decorating their homes. Marilyn was always busy. She loved sewing, crafting, playing cards, snow skiing, riding 4-wheelers, fishing, and traveling, where she made many new friends. Her greatest love though was spending time with family, especially the grandsons. Marilyn had a strong faith, and enjoyed attending Bible studies several times a week. One of Marilyn's greatest passions was crocheting bears and sending them to the children in Africa. This was her heart, helping others. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Always helpful, always smiling, and will be so very missed. Marilyn is survived by her husband of nearly 53 years, Curtis of Kirwin, Kansas; three daughters, Kim (Steve) Lueck of Kearney, Nebraska, Kelly (Chris) Jensen of Lexington, Nebraska, and Corey (Troy) Fellers of Lexington, Nebraska; one son, Paul (Nicole) Saville of Martell, Nebraska; five grandsons, Justin Shriver of Lexington, Nebraska, Tanner Shriver of Kearney, Nebraska, Seth Lueck of Kearney, Nebraska, Matthew Lueck of Kearney, Nebraska, and Logan (Sarah) Fellers of Cozad, Nebraska; one great-grandson, Jaxon Shriver; also surviving are many siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her parents-in-law, brother, Roger; and, grandson Devon Shriver. It was Marilyn’s wish, after death, that any part of her body that could be used to save another should be done. This was done in Wichita, Kansas. Cremation was then chosen. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Pastor William Ohlmann officiating. A Memorial Book Signing and visiting with family time will be held Monday, June 12, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Inurnment will be held privately for family only later in Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
