Marjorie Elizabeth Skinner DeFilipps

Marjorie E. (Skinner) DeFilipps, 90, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Saturday, September 12, 2009, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. She was born November 5, 1918 at Kansas City, Missouri to Charles T. and Ella Mae (Haley) Skinner, Sr. Marge graduated from high school in Kansas City and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from the University of Illinois and was a registered Dietician at VA Hospitals in New York City and Chicago. She was united in marriage to Joseph L. DeFilipps on April 16, 1955, Country Club Christian Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Joe and Marge moved their family to rural Lexington where they owned and operated C.T. Skinner, Sr. and DeFilipps Cattle Company along with Holiday Travel and Cruises. Marge enjoyed travelling with her husband on cruises all around the world. Her favorite trips and memories involved cruising and visiting Ireland. Besides travel, she loved to play bridge and share coffee with friends. Marge was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington where she served as Deacon, Sunday school teacher, youth group leader and served on the Women’s Council. She was also a member of Chapter FS P.E.O. for many years as well as the Tri-County Hospital Auxiliary and Ladies Shrine Auxiliary. Marge was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be so very missed. Survivors include one son: Charles M. DeFilipps of Lexington, Nebraska Two daughters: Kathleen Marie DeFilipps of Scottsdale, Arizona Ella Mae (Mike) Sculley of Lexington, Nebraska Four grandchildren: Joseph Sculley of North Platte, Nebraska; Sarah Sculley and special friend Oscar De La Torre of Lexington, Nebraska; Megan Sculley of Lexington, Nebraska and KC DeFilipps of Lexington, Nebraska. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe in 2002; brother, Charles Skinner, Jr. and granddaughter, Elizabeth Sculley. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Caroline Vickery and Pastor John Shields co-officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. There will be no public visitation, but the casket will be open prior to the funeral service. Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers to the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
