Helen H.P. Barta, 84, of Lexington, Nebraska, went to be with her Lord on Friday, February 24, 2017, at her home in Lexington.
Helen was born September 5, 1932, at Hamill, South Dakota to John and Elsie (Schwarz) Ropers
She was united in marriage to Donald Barta on October 3, 1954, at Callaway Lutheran Church in Callaway, Nebraska. Five children were blessed to this marriage; Zelda, Roger, Glen, Gladys, and Howard.
Helen loved to garden, grow flowers, crochet, and quilt. She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was active in various ladies groups.
Helen is survived by her children: Zelda (Dennis) Wood of Duncan, Nebraska; Roger Barta of Lexington, Nebraska; Glen Barta of Mt. Washington, Kentucky; Gladys (Greg) Johnson of Columbus, Nebraska; and Howard Barta of Leigh, Nebraska; also one sister, Anna (Edmond) Graczyk of Sumner, Nebraska; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren with two on the way; several nieces, nephews, and many relatives.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her parents; two sisters, Minnie Hanson and Betty Barta; two brothers, Louie Ropers and Henry Ropers; one granddaughter, and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 2, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner officiating.
Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
