Roger Lee Booth, 82, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at Cozad Care and Rehabilitation Center in Cozad.
He was born September 6, 1934, in Loup City, Nebraska, to Ernest and Lucille (Anderson) Booth. He attended school in Brady, Nebraska where he graduated with the class of 1952. He was united in marriage to Sharon Owings, in Gothenburg, Nebraska. Four children were blessed to this marriage; Terri, twins, Deb & DeeAnn, & Todd. The family lived in Brady, then Broken Bow, and settled in Lexington in 1971.
Roger was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Korean Conflict. He was an Independent Insurance Broker his entire career, as well as an Investment Advisor.
He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He loved playing golf, following the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and as a young man, used to rodeo.
The most important part of Roger’s life was his family. His grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought him much joy. He will be so missed.
Roger is survived by his wife, Sharon Booth of Lexington, Nebraska; one son, Todd (Kim) Booth of Lexington, Nebraska; three daughters, Terri Rung of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, DeeAnn (Shane) Sage of Lexington, Nebraska, Deb (Tim) Holbrook of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one brother; Harold (Elizabeth) Booth of Phoenix, Arizona; one sister, Elizabeth (Rick) Schmidt of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Delores Gronewold of Gothenburg, Nebraska, Marlene Anderson of Kearney, Nebraska, and Sherrill Lessig of Grand Island, Nebraska; eleven grandchildren; Daniel, Alyse (Michael), Katie (Jonathan), Morgan, Emilee (Michael), Ty, Catherine, Abby (Trevor), Cassidy, Madison and Brendan; nine great-grandchildren; Skylar, Chase, Cayd, Cinch, Cohen, Lillee, Swayzee, Rope, and Brecken; also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Harvey Silsby; infant brother, Douglas; and three brothers-in-law; Wayne Gronewold, Roger Anderson, and Robert Lessig.
It was Roger’s wishes for cremation. There will be no visitation.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, February 16, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Polly Deppen-Williams officiating.
Inurnment will be at 2:00 p.m. that same afternoon in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
