David Louis "Dave" Storjohann

David L. “Dave” Storjohann, 66, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, January 9, 2017, at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln. He was born July 3, 1950, in Lynch, Nebraska, to Louis August and Doris Evelyn (Eppenbach) Storjohann. He was a 1968 graduate of Burwell High School, and went on to further his education at Milford Technical College studying auto body repair. Dave enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country from July 20, 1970, until his honorable discharge on July 19, 1976. He served in Vietnam and Thailand. He was united in marriage to Patricia Timm on August 2, 1975. One daughter was born to this marriage, Sarah. The marriage ended in divorce, but he would find love again. He was united in marriage to Coleen O’Donnell Lauby on July 5, 2008, after 14 years of being engaged. He welcomed Coleen’s children, J.J., Mitch, and Megan to complete the family. Dave worked as a car body repairman for several years in Cozad. He worked for H&H Body Shop in Cozad, then Sperry New Holland, Big Valley, and finished his working years at Orthman Manufacturing, all in Lexington. He loved cars. He belonged to the Golden Rod Antique Car Club, the American Legion for 44 years, as well as the VFW. Dave enjoyed cooking, and was well-known for his special salsa! He loved to garden, old cars, tinker around, spending time with his friends, but his grandchildren always held the special place in his heart. Dave could tell a story like no other, and was always teasing. He fought a good fight until the end, and will be so very missed by all who knew and loved him. Dave is survived by his wife, Coleen of Lexington, Nebraska; four children, J.J. Lauby of Loomis, Nebraska, Mitch Lauby of Gainesville, Florida, Sarah (Jeff) McKeown of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Megan (Eric) Williams of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren, Drew, Jackson, & Kinsey Lauby, Maggie & Cooper Williams; two brothers, Harold (Joy) Storjohann of Goodyear, Arizona, and Larry (Monica) Storjohann of Phoenix, Arizona; three sisters, Shirley (Morry) Belisle of Denver, Colorado, Linda (Ron) Hendrickson of Big Springs, Nebraska, and Debbie (Roger) Clark of Cozad, Nebraska; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Dave was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at LexChristian Church in Lexington with Reverend Anne Gahn officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, January 13, 2017, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to Lexington Volunteer Fire Department or Dawson County Relay for Life. There will be no graveside service as Dave wished to be cremated.
