Patrick Lee Fleenor

Patrick Lee Fleenor, 67, of Overton, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016, at CHI Good Samaritan-Kearney. Pat was born January 6, 1949, in Richmond, Indiana, to Joseph Edward and Janet (Brunton) Fleenor. He moved with his family as a young boy to Overton, Nebraska, where he graduated from Overton High School with the class of 1967. He then went onto continue his education at McCook Community College. He was united in marriage to Marcy Maas on September 9, 1972, in Denver, Colorado. Five children were blessed to this marriage; Chris, Kelly, Jade, Cassie, and Ian. Pat worked various jobs before finding his love of farming, which he did for many years. The past several years prior to retiring he helped John McCarter with his construction business; infact, Pat built the house where they currently live. He loved working with wood and working with his hands. Pat had a love of playing cards. You could find family and friends over on the weekends playing Pitch, and Cribbage. He also had a group of guys he played Poker with. He enjoyed a good cup of Folgers coffee, his various pets throughout the years, but always had a fondness for “Piddles” who crossed the Rainbow Bridge before him. After Pat and Marcy both retired they loved going to Colorado panning for gold, and then heading up the mountain to gamble. He absolutely loved his friends, but nothing compared to the love he felt for his family. This is certainly a void that will never be filled. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Marcy Fleenor of Overton, Nebraska; his children; Kelly (Colleen) Fleenor of Kearney, Nebraska, Jade (Aaron) Benner of Kearney, Nebraska, Cassie (Mike Bennett) Fleenor of Phoenix, Arizona, and Ian Fleenor of Overton, Nebraska; Nine grandchildren, Abby (Andrew Alumit) Miller of Overton, Nebraska, Corsa Benner of Kearney, Nebraska, Keelan Fleenor of Kearney, Nebraska, Ava Benner of Kearney, Nebraska, Lucia Benner of Kearney, Nebraska, Nikayla Fleenor of Kearney, Nebraska, Hadley Benner of Kearney, Nebraska, Kyler Fleenor of Kearney, Nebraska, and Blayden Fleenor-Bennett of Phoenix, Arizona; one great-grandson, Carter; one brother, Michael Fleenor of Van Nuys, California; three brothers-in-law, Rick (Lynda) Maas of Broken Bow, Nebraska, Greg (Mary) Maas of Phoenix, Arizona, and Ron McCourt of Kearney, Nebraska; two sisters-in-law, Stephanie (John) Wood of Overton, Nebraska, and Melissa (Dave) Smith of Overton, Nebraska; also surviving are nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Pat was preceded in death by his parents; son, Chris; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Willliam and Jean Maas; three sisters-in-law, Elvira Fleenor, Cindy Svarvari-McCourt, and Rhonda Smith-Maas; one brother-in-law, Jeff Maas. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Overton with Reverend Doug Gahn officiating. Burial will be in the Overton Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington.
