Patricia Ann “Patty” Stickley, 76, of Elwood, Nebraska, former Lexington resident, died Monday, October 10, 2016, at Elwood Care Center in Elwood.
Patty was born February 23, 1940, in Julesburg, Colorado and adopted by Gilbert and Hazel (McCarter) McVey. She was a 1957 graduate of Ogallala High School. Patty married Richard Stickley on June 30, 1957, at the Methodist Church in Ogallala. Three children were blessed to this union; Michael, Cheryl, and Ronnie.
The family moved to Lexington in 1980. Patty was a stay-at-home mother until her children were in school. She then went to work at Lexington High School as the main cook. She was there for 22 ½ years. A job she thoroughly loved and made many good friends through the years.
Patty and Dick loved camping and fishing. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards, and being with family.
Patty developed Alzheimer’s approximately 8 years ago and was forced to move to Elwood Care Center for more care. The family so appreciated the care given Patty while she was there.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington.
Survivors include her husband; Richard of Lexington, Nebraska; children, Michael Stickley of Moss, Norway, Cheryl Stickley and partner Kevin McKee of Lexington, Nebraska, and Ronnie Stickley of Las Vegas, Nevada; three grandsons, Jon and wife Michelle Stickley of Lexington, Nebraska, Martin Stickley and fiancé Lone Handberg of Trondheim, Norway, and Austin Stickley of Las Vegas, Nevada; four great-grandchildren, Brylee, Beau, and Nolan Stickley, and Matheo Stickley of Trondheim, Norway; one brother, Tom and wife Jeanette Sandquist of Denver, Colorado. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents; half-sister, Rosie, and brother, Bob.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 13, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner and Pastor William Ohlmann officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 12, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington.
Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Grant, Nebraska at 2:00 p.m. (MT)
