Dr. Roger Allen Pentz, 80, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Saturday, September 24, 2016, peacefully at home. Roger was born in Stamford, NE on July 6, 1936 to William and Charlotte (Allender) Pentz. Roger attended Stamford School, graduating in 1954. He continued his education at Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, NE., where he participated in Football, Basketball, Track and many other activities before transferring to the University of Nebraska Dental College, in Lincoln. Roger married Patricia “Patty” Hendrickson, from Huntley, NE on August 24, 1958. After receiving his Doctorate in Dental Medicine in 1961, Roger served in the United States Navy, stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station in California. Roger and Pat returned to Nebraska after his Honorable Discharge in 1963. Roger began his private dental practice in Arapahoe, NE. In 1979 the family moved to Lexington where he continued his forty year practice, retiring in 2001. Roger and Pat were blessed with three sons and two daughters. He took great joy in his family and great pride in his seven grandchildren. Roger’s community service included the Arapahoe City Council, Arapahoe and Lexington Lions Clubs, Charter Member of Lexington Optimist Club, President of Lexington Chamber of Commerce, President of the Southwest District Dental Association, Board President of East Lawn Apartments. Roger was an active member of the Peace Lutheran and Grace Lutheran churches in Arapahoe and Lexington where he served on church councils, President of Endowment Fund and numerous committees. He was a member of Keep Lexington Beautiful, Neighborhood Watch and Crimestoppers. He is an Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska. Roger is survived by his wife Pat of 58 years and his children and grandchildren. Dennis of Lincoln, NE, Kevin and fiancée Dana, Abigail and Mia of Winfield, KS. Wendy, Marty, Morgan, Molly and Joe Russell of Spring, TX. Alisa, David, Dillon and Bricen Margritz of Lexington. Also, survived by his sister Jonelle and Norman Lans of Lexington, Sister- in- Law Jean and LaMont Englund of Holdrege, NE., Brother- in- Law Lloyd Berquist of Holdrege, NE., Nephews and Nieces, many friends and his beloved Springer Spaniel – Maddie. He is preceded in death by his son David Michael, parents, mother and father in law Lester and Ellen Hendrickson, sister in law, Joy Berquist, nieces Joyce Anderson and Carol Englund Dolnicek, nephew Jason Lans and a niece’s husband Paul Wischmeier. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Josh Stibb, officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be Monday, September 26, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
