Helen Marie Luther, 69, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Park Avenue Estates in Lexington. She was born September 7, 1939, at Montgomery, Alabama to George Willard and Wilma O. (Hood) Howe. Helen grew up in Alabama and graduated from Enterprise High School in Enterprise, Alabama. Helen was united in marriage to George N. Luther on November 2, 1958, at Enterprise, Alabama at the First Baptist Church. The marriage was blessed with three sons; Steve, Larry and Kenny. The couple moved to Nebraska in 1958, settling in Lexington in 1970. To say that Helen was a character is an understatement. She enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved her family and friends and so enjoyed golfing, playing bridge and attending her sons’ sporting events and getting to know her grandchildren. Helen was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her sons and grandchildren: Steve & Allison Luther their children Leah & Caitlyn of Lexington, Nebraska Larry & Ann Luther their children Alexis & Aaron of Lexington, Nebraska Kenny & Christie Luther their children Nathaniel, Samuel & Josephine of Kearney, Nebraska Her sister: Patricia & Ken Mitchell of Panama City Beach, Florida Helen was preceded in death by her parents and husband, George in 1985. Services will be Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Reverend Caroline Vickery officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2009, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to the Family for later designation. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements. Please send online condolences to: reynoldslovefuneralhome.com.
