Kathryn Ann Neil

Kathryn A. Neil, 71, of Lexington, Nebraska, died September 10, 2016 at Lexington Regional Health Center. Kathryn was born in Fairbury, NE on June 24, 1945 to Victor and Edna (Drees) Jordening, the fourth of six children. The family moved to Superior, NE and later to Lexington, where Kathryn graduated from high school. She continued her education at Concordia College in Seward, NE, the University of Nebraska Lincoln, and graduated from Kearney State College. She served as a substitute teacher in the Lexington school system, and as Distance Learning Coordinator for Central Community College. She co-owned and operated Main Street Interiors, a gift shop, with her good friend Neala Lubberstedt. Kathryn is also remembered for “Art on the Farm”, a retail business which she operated on the family farm. She enjoyed the opportunity that retail provided, to connect with friends new and old. She was a talented floral designer and raised and preserved many of the florals used in her designs. She managed the gift department at Barmore Drug Store until her health forced her retirement. She loved her community and her church and graciously volunteered her time for the benefit of faith. Kathryn married Steve Neil on September 6, 1964. Three sons were born to this marriage. Her family was the love and joy of her life. She loved being a “Mom” and raising her sons on the farm. She took great pride in her eight grandchildren, and their accomplishments. She is survived by Steve, her husband of 52 years and their sons and families; Chris and (Stacy), Emma, Claire, and Ethan of Papillion, NE; Matt and (Lea), Lindsey (Caleb) McKeever of Wymore, NE, Ty Rogers, and Nate Neil of rural Cozad, NE; and Dan and (KayCee), Thomas, and Samantha of Lincoln, NE. She is also survived by her siblings Richard (Diane) Jordening of Omaha,NE, David (Sharon) Jordening of Germantown, TN, Mary (Jack) Norman of Eugene, OR, John (Genice) Jordening of Lexington, NE, Sara Jordening of North Platte, NE, Brother in laws David (Jackie) Neil of Lafayette, IN, and Andrew (Dee Dee) of Lincoln, NE, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, her father and mother in law, Norval and Charlotte Neil, and nephew Adam Neil. Kathryn’s family would like to thank everyone who has visited, sent cards, given gifts of food, placed encouraging phone calls, and offered prayers. All of these sustained her during the past months, and were appreciated more than words can express. Memorial gifts may be directed to Lexington Regional Health Center or Donor’s Choice. Memorial Service will be Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner & Pastor Bill Ohlmann, officiating. Private Family Burial will be held prior to Memorial Service at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 13, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.
