Colleen Elizabeth Ann “Cokie” Rader, 65, of Lexington, Nebraska, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Kearney Regional Health Center.
She was born February 2, 1951, in O’Neill, Nebraska, to Harlan L. and Elinore (Emely) Parker.
Colleen was raised in Butte, Nebraska and graduated from Butte High School with the class of 1969. After graduation she came to Lexington to live with her sister Judy.
Colleen was united in marriage to Steven Rader on June 12, 1982, in Sumner, Nebraska. One son was born to this union: Michael.
She worked as a waitress and bakery assistant. She was employed by Schnacker’s Country, Eagles Club, Villager Restaurant and her last job was with Karre City Bakery, until her health forced her to retire. She enjoyed working as a waitress and made many life-long friends.
She was a crisis line advocate for many years and also assisted Steve with the Boy Scouts. She loved painting craft items and going through cook books. Colleen was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan. But most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a resident of Brookdale in Lexington for the last two years, and enjoyed doing bead work for many of the residents.
Survivors include her husband; Steven of Lexington, Nebraska; one son, Michael (Amanda) Rader of Lexington, Nebraska; Five brothers, Harlan (Kathy) Parker of Olathe, Kansas, Dale “Rusty” (Denille) Parker of Wayne, Nebraska, Lee (Lori) Parker of Beemer, Nebraska, Michael (Anita) Parker of Houston, Texas and Ronald Parker of Winner, South Dakota; Three sisters, Judith (Jim) Franklin of Overland Park, Kansas, Jane Schumann of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Lisa Marie Bedrique of Olathe, Kansas; 6 grandchildren, Dakota, Gabrielle, Tyson, Gabriel, Jezeus and Chaigne; and, mother-in-law, Patsy Rader of Sumner, Nebraska.
Colleen was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Donald; and, father-in-law, Alfred Rader.
Celebration of Life will be Monday, August 29, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Father Neal Nollette, officiating.
Visitation will be on Sunday, August 28, from 2-5 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Burial will be in Robb Cemetery south of Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
