Dick A. Herbert

Dick A. Herbert, 57, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Golden Living Center in Cozad, Nebraska, following a short battle with colon cancer. He was born September 24, 1958, in Oxford, Nebraska, to Harvey and Margaret (Breinig) Herbert. He was a 1976 graduate of Arapahoe High School. Dick was united in marriage to Deb Ferguson on June 23, 1984, in Eustis, Nebraska. Three daughters were blessed to this marriage; Angelia, Whitney, and Shelby. Dick worked for Monroe Auto in Cozad, Nebraska for 34 years until the plant closed. He then worked for Midwest Special Services for the past 5 years until his illness made it impossible for him to work. He was a devoted Nebraska Cornhusker fan, as well as being skilled in woodworking. He collected shot glasses, and loved eagles. He enjoyed being with the family and absolutely loved his little granddaughter, Ashlynn. Dick was a member of the Evangelical Free Church of Lexington. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife; Deb of Lexington, Nebraska; his daughters, Angelia Herbert and her fiancé Byron Upthagrove of Holdrege, Nebraska, Whitney Herbert and her fiancé Chris Sawvell of Lincoln, Nebraska, Shelby and husband Robert Herbert of Lexington, Nebraska, one granddaughter, Ashlynn Herbert of Lexington, Nebraska; his father, Harvey of Arapahoe, Nebraska; three brothers, David Herbert of Arapahoe, Nebraska, Don and his wife Margaret Herbert of Arapahoe, Nebraska, and Dan and his wife DJ Herbert of Cozad, Nebraska; two sisters, Shelia and her husband Charles Pruitt of Arapahoe, Nebraska, and Patty and her husband Mick Daughenbaugh of Beaver City, Nebraska; special friends, April and David Ibarra of Lexington, Nebraska; special grandchildren, Gracie and Luke Miller, and McKenize and Noe Ibarra; as well as nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family and friends. Dick was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret. Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Evangelical Free Church in Lexington with Pastor Duane Russell officiating. Burial will be in the Arapahoe Cemetery at Arapahoe, Nebraska at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held Friday, March 18, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
