Marilyn A. Rose, 82, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016, at Plum Creek Healthcare Community in Lexington. She was born August 21, 1933, in Cozad, Nebraska, to Leslie and Dorothy (Johnson) Delap. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1951. Marilyn furthered her education at Nebraska Christian College in Norfolk, Nebraska in 1952. At age 70, she received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2003. Marilyn was united in marriage to Lowell Rose on April 17, 1955 in Cozad. Three sons were blessed to this marriage; David, Brian, and Brent. Marilyn shared her beautiful voice for many years by singing in the choir at First Christian Church, which she was a member for many years. She was a member of local musical trio, the Cameos and she also sang for many funerals and weddings. Always active, Marilyn was a past member of P.E.O., volunteered for Tri-County Hospice, and she was the Social Services Director for Westside Care Home for many years, as well as raising her sons, and attending their activities. She also enjoyed card playing with her friends from the Cozad Bridge Club. In 2000, Marilyn moved to Grand Island, Nebraska, worked at Riverside Lodge and was active in the Third City Christian Church. In 2010, she moved to Omaha, and came back home to Lexington in 2013. She leaves to mourn her passing her three sons; David (Carolyn) Rose of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Brian (Lynn) Rose of Kearney, Nebraska, Brent (Monica) Rose of Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren (Ben, Ashley, Lindsey, Adley and Harper), three great-grandchildren (Anna Kate, Grayson, Channing); one brother, Bill (Vel) Delap of Dallas, Texas, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lowell in 1995; sister, Virginia, and brother, Bob. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at LexChristian Church in Lexington with Pastor Daniel Sauer officiating. Burial will be in the Cozad Cemetery at Cozad. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington. Memorials are suggested to Nebraska Christian College Music Dept. or local music department of choice. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is assisting the family with arrangements.
