Jack R. Stedman, 74, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Monday, April 13, 2009, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington.
Jack was born June 22, 1934, at Ogallala, Nebraska to Byon and Una May (Crawford) Stedman.
He was a graduate of Ogallala High School with the class of 1951, and went on to further his education at San Jose State University graduating with an Accounting degree.
Jack retired after 34 years of distinguished service with the United States government which included; eight
years with the U.S. Coast Guard, four years with the Federal Aviation Administration, five years with the Defense Contract Administration Service, two years as an Inspection Service Internal Auditor and finally over 15 years as a Postal Inspector. Upon his retirement he received a commendation letter from the Chief Postal Inspector in Washington D.C. congratulating him on his exemplary service to his country.
Jack was a member of the Elk’s Lodge and the Overton Golf Course in Overton, Nebraska.
When Jack retired in 1989, he moved to Lexington. Jack loved to garden and grow fruit. He shared his wonderful bounty with the community by having a booth every Saturday at the Farmer’s Market. He enjoyed golfing, dancing, traveling, baking pies, playing cards and was the chief cook and bottle washer for the family reunions upon his return to Nebraska. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. His passing will leave a huge void.

Donna & Ray Nelson of Ogallala, Nebraska
Mary Ann Crawford of Sidney, Nebraska
A daughter: Jill-whereabouts unknown as well as nieces, nephews, grand nieces, nephews and great-great-nieces & nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gordon F. Stedman.
Funeral Services will be Friday, April 17, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Chapel in Lexington with Reverend John Craig officiating.
Burial with Military Honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Grand Generation Center in Lexington.
