Rosella Frances (Ourada) Davis, 89, of Overton, Nebraska, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, surrounded by her large, loving family.
She was born August 9, 1926, in Overton, Nebraska, to Frank and Frances (Pavelka) Ourada. She attended school at Overton, graduating from Overton High School with the class of 1944.
Through the years Rosella raised her large family, worked at Plectron in Overton, Sapp Brothers near Odessa, where she was known for her world famous pies, and later worked at Head Start in Lexington as a Foster Grandparent. She was so proud of the fact she received an award from President Obama for her part in the Grandparent program at Head Start.
Rosella was a wonderful cook, enjoyed baking, scratch-off lottery tickets, and spending time with her large family.
She was a faithful member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overton.
Rosella leaves to mourn her passing her children; Bill Davis of Springfield, Missouri, Cayla (Creig) Anderson of Centralia, Missouri, Jerry Davis of Overton, Nebraska, DeeAnn (Rod) Nickel of Elm Creek, Nebraska, Mike (Vicki) Davis of Lexington, Nebraska, Jody (Roger) Teeters of Lexington, Nebraska, Kerry (Karen) Davis of Castle Rock, Colorado, Sherry (Dennis) Hageman of Overton, Nebraska, Christy (Marcus) Sweet of Johnstown, Colorado; twenty-six grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
Rosella was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Jim and Jack; two grandchildren, Bradley and Shannon, and nine siblings.
The family has honored Rosella’s wishes for cremation. There will be no visitation or rosary.
A Memorial Celebration of Life Mass will be held Monday, January 4, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overton, Nebraska with Reverend Alex Borzych celebrating.
Inurnment will be held prior at St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery at Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to Holy Rosary Catholic Church or the Overton Volunteer Fire Department.
