Erma Mary Wyckoff, 99, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, March 27, 2009, at Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington, Nebraska.
She was born March 5, 1910 on a farm north of Overton to Leopold and Louise (Coufal) Mazanec. She attended Dawson County District #17 school and graduated from Lexington High School in 1929.
Erma married Albert Wyckoff on June 2, 1943, in Bethany, Missouri. They lived in Unionville, Missouri until Albert’s death in 1965. In 1986, Erma moved to Lexington and resided at East Lawn Apartments until 2006, when she moved to Park Avenue Estates. In September of 2007, she moved to Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.
Erma enjoyed baking and was known for her homemade pies she served daily at the small café she and Albert owned and operated in Unionville for many years. Erma loved sewing, crocheting, and crafts. She always had a big garden of vegetables and flowers. She especially loved growing her flowers. The many afghans and blankets she handmade and gave as gifts over the years will be cherished reminders to her family and friends of Erma’s love and generosity.
She is survived by one brother: Leo (Bernece) Mazanec of Overton, Nebraska
Niece: Kathy Robison of Unionville, Missouri; and several other nieces and nephews.
Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Wyckoff; her parents; five sisters, Adele White, Loretta Klein, Marie Brunner, Evelyn Abood, Betty Judy; and three brothers, Edwin, Ernest and George.
The family has honored Erma’s wishes that her body be cremated and her remains be sent to Unionville, Missouri for burial. Erma also requested that there be no visitation or memorial service.
