Morris Smith Hollander

Morris Smith Hollander, 91, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Friday, March 20, 2009, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. He was born March 19, 1918, on a farm north of Campbell, Nebraska to Albert Eugene and Ella Hazel (Smith) Hollander. Morris lived there until 1937, when he moved to Overton, Nebraska. He graduated from Campbell High School in 1935. He was married on August 11, 1940, to Betty Carmichael at Kearney, Nebraska and had celebrated their 68th Anniversary. Morris lived at North Platte and moved to Lexington in 1973. He worked at the hay mills for several years and as a truck driver delivering cattle feed. He also raised Chinchillas for fur production, receiving many ribbons and trophies for his quality animals. He loved flying and had a private pilot’s license. In the last few years he enjoyed watching the steam engine train programs on television. When he was able he attended church in Cozad. Survivors include his wife: Betty Hollander of Lexington, Nebraska Two daughters: Normalee (Kent) Stadler of Lincoln, Nebraska Katheryn (Darrel) Grebe of Lincoln, Nebraska Three grandsons, one granddaughter, two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Eunice Ellingson and her husband Leo. The family honored Morris’s wishes that his body be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington with Kent Stadler officiating. There will be no visitation and memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
